Why High Potential Season 3 Isn’t Coming This Fall

High Potential fans will have to wait a little longer for Season 3. While several of ABC’s biggest series are returning this fall, the Kaitlin Olson-led drama is noticeably missing from the lineup.

Where Did High Potential Leave Off?

Season 2 left Morgan and the team with plenty of drama hanging over their heads. The finale brought closure to the hunt for the Game Maker. However, little did they know that the game was far from finished.

At the same time, Morgan had a major decision to make about her future with the LAPD. Meanwhile, her relationship with Karadec continued to move into new territory. Because those storylines are still wide open, viewers already have plenty to look forward to when Season 3 begins.

Season 3 Has Plenty to Pick Up

Consequently, Season 3 will have a lot of cliffhangers to address right out of the gate. For instance, Wagner was left bleeding after being shot. In addition, the mystery surrounding Roman took another dramatic turn when someone appeared to be watching Ava at her art show.

On top of that, Karadec was left dealing with the fallout of Lucia’s arrest. Therefore, the show has several unresolved stories to wrap up before Morgan and her team can move on to their next case.

So Why the Long Wait?

The good news is that the move to 2027 isn't because ABC has lost faith in High Potential. In fact, the series was ABC's No. 1 program among adults 18-49 last season.

Instead, the network is holding Season 3 until midseason, so an early 2027 return is expected. As a result, once new episodes begin, viewers will get a more frequent run without the constant breaks that disrupted Season 2.
