Shocking Exit: Ryan Paevey Exits General Hospital—Inside His Dramatic Final Airdate!

The return of Ryan Paevey to General Hospital has officially come to an end.

The actor made his final appearance on Monday, July 6, closing the chapter on his short return to the ABC soap. Although many fans hoped he was back for the long haul, his storyline was always intended to be temporary.

A Planned Exit

Paevey first returned to General Hospital in September 2025 after originally leaving the series in 2018 when Nathan West was killed in the line of duty. His return sparked intense speculation that Nathan had somehow survived.

While Executive Producer Frank Valentini confirmed that Paevey signed on for a limited story, he noted that the door remains open should the actor decide to return in the future.

A Twist No One Saw Coming

Rather than bringing Nathan back from the dead, the show introduced an entirely new character. 

It was later revealed that Paevey was playing Cassius Faison, Nathan's identical twin brother.

Cassius initially posed as Nathan to carry out his own agenda, but over time, his relationships with the people of Port Charles began to change him.

His bond grew with James while he also developed a romance with Lulu, showing a completely different side to the character.

A Dramatic Farewell

Cassius' journey came to an end during a confrontation on Spoon Island, where he risked his own life to save Josslyn, taking a gunshot wound in the process.

While the episode gave the impression that he died, the following episode revealed that Cassius survived and was taken into WSB custody, leaving his future open-ended.

What Happens Next

Everyone in Port Charles believes Cassius is dead, leaving his friends and family to mourn his "loss." 

However, the WSB has other plans. Whether Cassius agrees to work for the agency or eventually finds his way back to Port Charles remains untold, but the ending leaves plenty of room for Ryan Paevey to reprise the role down the line.
