Is Nathan Owens Done at The Young and the Restless? Where Is Holden Novak?

The Young and the Restless viewers are left puzzled by a suddenly MIA actor and character. We speak of none other than Nathan Owens and his alter ego, Holden Novak. Fans are now growing increasingly concerned after noticing that the actor's name has recently vanished from the regular contract cast in the closing credits.

While it's entirely possible that Owens has simply been dropped from a full-time contract down to recurring status, his extended absence has everyone asking: Is Nathan Owens done at Y&R, and where on earth is Holden?

So far, what we know for sure is that Owens was last seen on the canvas back in August!

From Mysterious Imposter to Winters Family Royalty

Nathan Owens made his official on-screen debut on The Young and the Restless on January 8, 2025, after his casting was announced in December 2024. Joining the CBS soap opera as Holden Novak—who was initially introduced under a mysterious guise—Owens quickly turned heads and was bumped up to a full-time contract status by spring 2025.

Holden arrived in Genoa City under a cloud of secrecy. He initially impersonated a man named Damian Kane (the son of Amy Lewis) to investigate Nate Hastings. Once his cover was blown, everything changed!

The character’s place in Genoa City shifted forever in a huge April 2026 paternity twist when it was revealed that Holden is actually the biological son of Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) and Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox), who both made a triumphant return to the show at the time.

Holden was thrust into the core of the Winters family drama when Malcolm needed a life-saving stem cell transplant. While adjusting to this explosive reality and dealing with his mother's decades of deception, Holden also had to deal with the dynamics with his newly discovered biological sibling, Lily, alongside his romance with Claire Newman.

Has Nathan Owens Officially Left Genoa City?

Before shaking things up in Genoa City, Nathan Owens made his daytime television breakthrough on the NBC/Peacock soap opera Days of Our Lives, where he played Dr. Cameron Davis, followed by prime-time roles on Devious Maids and 9-1-1: Lone Star.

Given his deep ties to the iconic Winters family and his growing romance with Claire, seeing Holden vanish right after such massive character development feels jarring to loyal viewers. While network representatives haven't issued a formal exit confirmation, removing an actor from the main contract credits typically signals one of two things in daytime: either a bump down to recurring status to allow the actor to pursue other projects, or an quiet off-screen exit as storyline space opens up.

With Holden last spotted in Genoa City during late summer, fans are eagerly waiting to see if he'll pop back up to claim his place in the Winters empire or if his story has reached an unexpected pause.

What do you think? Do you hope to see Nathan Owens back as Holden Novak soon, or do you think his storyline with Claire and the Winters clan ran its course?
